Ligularia is a fantastic late summer through fall stunner due to the amazing bright yellow flower spikes-hence the name ‘The Rocket’. This plant works hard all spring and summer building up stock for its stalk. Some stalks can be 5’-6’ tall in the right situation, but generally 3’-4’ tall. The rubbery-looking leaves will be about 2’ tall before the bloom is sent up. Ligularia grow in sun to shade, however, in sun their wide, dark leaves lose a lot of moisture in warm spells and may need supplemental watering. When rain comes back, they perk right up. Ligularia seeds itself quite well at JOA. Perennial.
