When Caroline Jensen donated her homestead to the City and Borough of Juneau, she also provided a $2 million endowment that she intended would eventually cover the cost of basic operations. Her generous gifts result in a public garden with no entrance fee.
However, that minimal operating budget does not cover many of the projects and activities that make the Arboretum such a special place. Recognizing this fact, we established the Friends as a nonprofit organization to support the Jensen-Olson Arboretum. We raise funds through memberships and the sale of plants and other items, but donations are essential to our ability to provide this support. The list of projects reflects the enrichment that FJOA has added over the years.
Donations in any amount help continue this work. They may be sent directly to Friends of Jensen-Olson Arboretum using our online store or by mailing a check made out to FJOA to P.O. Box 33936, Juneau, AK 99803.
Alternatively, you can donate to two funds we have established with the Juneau Community Foundation. Be sure to indicate fund you would like to contribute to.
The Friends of Jensen-Olson Arboretum Fund powered our recent large projects, such as the Chilkats View Shelter, the “Lovely Loo,” the word garden, and the update of this website.
